Welcome to my second blog
Milo and The St Margarets' Dog Show on the 11th July
Hello again and welcome to my blog. Thanks for all the emails – I was really surprised at how many there were. And thanks for asking about my damaged ligament. You’ll be pleased to hear that it’s much improved. The CORTAFLEX certainly helped and my lovely vet Tim in Kew gave me a clean bill of health and said I can go back to running about. Thank goodness for that, I was going crazy sitting here looking out the window. And now to Sugar - a standard poodle from High Wycombe - the autographed photo is on its way. Right, time to answer a few questions. Firstly from Skippy – a mongrel cross from Highbury – why don’t we sell pet food on-line? Good question Skip and one I put to my owners. They said although we sell lots of dog and cat food in the shop (Arden Grange, Burns, James Wellbeloved, Almo Nature, Hills, Naturediet and Orijen) it is really expensive to post a 2kg bag of food to anywhere in the UK. It’s almost the same as the cost of the food. But we do deliver up to 3 miles around Richmond for free and we are quite happy to answer any nutritional questions at the shop, so give us a ring. Now to Sara and her cat Sage a red and gold moggie from Hatch End, who find my blog a bit ‘doggist’. (I also got a bit of stick from the two cats I live with (Cleo and Murphy)). All I can say is - I know I have a wee pop at cats now and then but I do try and cover all the new products for dogs AND cats. It’s only a bit of fun. But I will try harder in the future not to be too doggist. Anyway I got some great news for Sage and cat owners everywhere, the fabulous new ‘Igloo’ range of cat litters trays.

And here’s the clever bit, they also double as a carrier. Brilliant or what?!
Now to Milo. Well she’s gone and done it. My mistress has bought a new puppy. Milo is his name and he’s a Shih Tzu. He’s 12 weeks old and is getting just a little too much attention from everybody in the shop. “Isn’t he sweet.” “Isn’t he adorable!” “Isn’t he cute?” Then they look at me and say “Oh we mustn’t forget Blue” Then they pat me on the head. Patronising or what! Here’s some pictures of the dear little thing.

NO I’m not sending out any photos of him. Enough is enough!
And a big big thankyou to everyone who came to the St Margarets Dog Show on the 11th July. It was a massive turnout and we raised a record amount for local charities. Our master of ceremonies was the irrepressible Jason Bradbury from Channel 5's 'The Gadget Show' who kept the events bubbling along with his irreverent humour and cool wit. This plus a panel of celebrity judges - all actors past and present from the BBC TV's series 'Holby' - Rebecca Lacey, Stella Gonet and Verona Joseph plus local dog behaviourist Beverley Saucel brought a touch of glamour to the proceedings.

In the main categories 'Handsomest Hound' was won by Simon with owner Clare. 'Most Beautiful Bitch' was won by Abi with owner Carrie. 'Cutest Puppy' was won by Crystal with owner Alison. 'Most Talented Trick' was won by Ditto with owner Josie. 'Loveliest Eyes' was won by Mollie with owner Joseph. 'Best Fancy Dress' was won by Rufus with owner Andrew. 'Best Veteran' was won by the lovely Bailey with owner Lynda. 'Nicest Coat' was won by Rusty with owner Charlotte. 'Best Rescue' was won by Annie with owner Daisy. And the winner of the nail-biting 'Sit And Stay Sausage' competition was Stella with owner Jade. Finally the dog considered to be 'Best In Show' was Annie with owner Daisy. All in all it was a fabulous day out and every entrant got a bonus bag of goodies courtesy of your friendly neighbourhood pet shop Absolute Pets.
Well that’s it for this month. If there is anything you'd like us to stock or any questions you'd like answered please email me at: blue@absolute-pets.co.uk or hit the 'Add A Comment' box below and send me a message. Drop in again soon and I’ll tell you how I got on at the dog show
